Get your Home ready for winter!
Hello again,
It's a good time of year to get your home ready for the upcoming winter. Here
are a few things you can do to get ready for Winter. Some of these tips can help you save money and some can help keep you
healthy through the cold season. We will start from the outside and work our way in.
1. Check the roof for damaged
shingles or other visible roof damage. (Don't want any leaks)
2. Once the leaves have finished falling clean
out your gutters. (Helps keep rain from running over the edge of the gutter onto your head)
3. Check all outside windows
and doors. (Fill in any cracks or gaps with caulking you can also add window shrink film to help cut down on heating costs
by keeping the heat in)
4. Check all hoses and pipes. (If you have pipes that run outside or through the crawl space
make sure to put pipe insulation on them. You can also get a insulation roll for your water heater which can cut your heating
bill and keep that water hot for those cold days)
5. Dust the house. (Its better to do it before you clean the carpets)
6. Get the carpets cleaned. (During the winter we keep our houses closed more so dust, allergens and germs can accumulate
much faster so getting them cleaned can help you stay healthy. Plus it nice to have clean carpets for the holidays when family
and friends will be over)
7. Replace your air filter on your furnace. (If you can afford it go with a higher
quality air filter. With the home closed up you really want to filter out all the junk in the air)
8. Wash your
sheets and blankets. (nothing better than crawling into a nice warm clean bed)
9. Install a ionizer to help clean the
air. (having a house plant can also create more oxygen in the house)
10. You can also run a humidifier to help
keep the air moist and not so dry. (helps clear a stuffy nose)
I hope these tips help get you and your home
ready for the upcoming winter.
